Each morning, beginning around 5:30 AM, a vary special ceremony takes place in Luang Prabang, an old capital of the ancient Lan Xang Kingdom (“The Kingdom of a Million Elephants Under One Parasol”). Hundreds of monks walk in a single file the streets of this ancient Laotian town, collecting alms. It is an important spiritual experience not only for the participants of this long held tradition, but for the spectators as well. Commencing with Tak Bat the day continues for Laotian monks.
